Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player won his maiden trophy for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Now working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's first championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children simultaneously, so to win a championship is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.

His defensive strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an improved service.

He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.

The opponent saved four initial chances in a tight third set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
